Gilles Reinhardt

Biography

Gilles Reinhardt obtained his M.Sc. in Systems Sciences from the University of Ottawa in 1990 and his Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1998. His master’s studies focused on bio-economic modeling whereas his doctoral studies focused on transportation and energy. He was at DePaul University in Chicago from 2000 to 2015 where he taught Operations, Supply Chain Management and Sport Operations to both undergraduate and graduate students. He also delivered seminars and taught courses in Finland, Thailand, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Bahrain. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Reinhardt was a survey methodologist at Statistics Canada.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Professor Reinhardt’s research interests range from theoretical operations management to healthcare and sport management. He developed and applied congestion management models to a number of fields: transportation, energy, cost allocation, e-commerce, inventory control, and medical care delivery. He has presented his work at international conferences and published research in a number of high impact journals such as the Journal of the Operational Research SocietyDecision Sciences, Naval Research LogisticsAnnals of Emergency Medicine, the Journal of Emergency MedicineSimulation in Healthcare, and the Journal of Sport Management. He has also published some of his classroom exercises and cases in Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education and in INFORMS Transactions on Education. His most recent work centres on the optimal composition of prescription drug formularies.
