Lysanne Lessard

Biography

Lysanne Lessard received a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information. She also holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology (M.Sc.) from Téluq – Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), and a B.A. in Communications from UQAM.

Professor Lessard’s studies have been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FQRNT), and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program (OGS). She currently holds a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Her many scholarly publications include the chapter article “Service Systems Design: An Intentional Agent Perspective”, published in 2013 in Human Factors and Ergonomics Manufacturing & Service Industries, 23(1), 68-75, with co-author Eric Yu.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Professor Lessard’s research centres on service design. In particular, her research is focused on producing new models and methods for the design, transformation, and evaluation of knowledge-intensive services such as professional services, research and development services, and healthcare services. The ability of these services to create innovation and value is not being maximized because current service design approaches do not adequately factor in their unique characteristics. It is thus important to create new models and methods able to lead to processes and information and communication technologies (ICT) that are aligned with the functioning, actors, and context of knowledge-intensive services.

TEACHING

Professor Lessard coordinates and teaches various undergraduate courses in Management Information Systems. She also teaches in the French and English MBA programs, as well as in the Telfer MBA at Metz program. She will be teaching in the Health Systems Management stream as part of the new Ph.D. program.
